Call for Proposals

EuroBSDcon is the European technical conference for users and developers on BSD based systems. The EuroBSDcon 2011 conference will be held in the Netherlands from Thursday 6 October 2011 to Sunday 9 October 2011, with tutorials on Thursday and Friday and talks on Saturday and Sunday.

The EuroBSDcon conference is inviting developers and users of BSD based systems to submit innovative and original proposals not submitted to other European conferences on BSD related topics. Topics of interest to the conference include, but are not limited to applications, architecture, implementation, performance and security of BSD based operating systems, as well as topics concerning the economic or organizational aspects of BSD use. Presentations are expected to be 45 or 90 minutes, please indicate the approximate time slot size when submitting your abstract.

Call for Tutorial Proposals

The EuroBSDcon conference is inviting qualified practitioners in their field to submit proposals for half or full day tutorials on topics relevant to development, implementation and use of BSD based systems. Submission address

Community Dag BSD 2010

Na het succes van vorig jaar en eerder organiseert de NLLGG in samenwerking met de NLUUG dit jaar voor de derde keer de “BSD Community Dag”. Deze dag staat dan in het teken van het BSD-besturingssysteem met tal van prominente sprekers.

De NLLGG-bijeenkomst vindt plaats in het Trajectum College in Utrecht – ondanks de andere naam op dezelfde locatie als de laatste jaren.

Wireless Bridge with Freebsd

The WiFi infrastructure is build from embedded hardware from Alix. The WiFi is having the 11a and the 11b/g band. Per accesspoint one inferfaces use the 2,4 Ghz frequency and a second interface use the 5Ghz frequency.

The software images generated by NanoBSD that is part of the FreeBSD source.
NanoBSD is a script that builds an image containing FreeBSD that can be written directly to a CF card (or anything else, really). It’s customisable. It has a read-only root filesystem on the card, and uses memory-backed filesystems for /var and /etc. Config is stored in a separate partition on the disk and is copied to the memory-backed /etc during the boot process.

I build some images for WifiSoft.org that is promoting the use of their Nek A Kit that can be used to provide wired and wireless network on small and midium size events. My scripts and config files can

T-DOSE is a free and yearly event held in The Netherlands to promote use and development of Open Source Software. During this event Open Source projects, developers and visitors can exchange ideas and knowledge. This years event will be held on 6 and 7 November 2010 at the Fontys University of Applied Science in Eindhoven. More information can be found on the website of T-dose

This year the team of wifisoft wil provide this event with the network structure, wired and wifi.
